Also, we are delighted to welcome Dylan Conor, Associate Professor at the School of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning at Arizona State University, to give his presentation om Historical trends in Irish baby names. He has been featured on RTE’s website with his research.
Meet the Speakers
Conor Doherty-Greene
Conor Doherty-Greene is currently Ireland’s Deputy Consul General to the Southwestern United States, serving in this position since August 2022. Prior to this role, Mr. Doherty Greene served as Counterterrorism Coordinator in Ireland’s Department of Foreign Affairs – International Security Policy Section, with a focus on UN Security Council and European Union issues. Within the International Security Policy Section, Mr. Doherty-Greene also worked as desk officer for Afghanistan, and on thematic desks including Cybersecurity and Organized Crime. Mr. Doherty-Greene served as Deputy Director for Training & Development in his first assignment within the Department. Mr. Doherty-Greene holds a BA in English Literature and Linguistics as well as a Masters degree in Violence, Terrorism and Security Studies.
He is a keen sportsman, playing Gaelic Football, Hurling, Rugby and practicing Judo.
Dylan Connor
Dylan Connor is an associate professor at Arizona State University. He has written on a wide range of topics, including the changing geography of the American Dream, rural America, Irish fertility and historical trends in baby naming. His findings have been published in leading scientific journals and in popular outlets such as Brookings, Business Insider, RTE, and on prime-time radio. For 2024-2025, he will be a CASBS fellow at Stanford University.
