Plan A Visit

The Irish Cultural Center and McClelland Library are located on the West side of Central between McDowell and Roosevelt. We are located in the heart of Margaret Hance Park in downtown Phoenix, Arizona.

Taking the Light Rail

When taking the light rail to our facilities please exit at the Roosevelt/Central exit, or “The Arts District.” Light rail comes and goes from our facilities approximately every 15 minutes.

When coming for long visits please be aware we do not have an area on campus designated for lunches. Additionally all food is prohibited within the Library. Please prepare to picnic in the park or eat at one of the many local restaurants near our facility.

Driving to the Center

Access to the center is only available from the north as Central Avenue is split into one way streets due to the light rail. When driving to the Irish Cultural Center and McClelland Library, please be sure to come from McDowell Rd. and turn south onto Central Avenue. The center and library are located on the right hand side and you will enter through the driveway with the green harp gates.

Parking at the center is limited to first come first serve basis in the adjacent lot B. However, there is an abundance of public parking nearby for visitors should the closest lot become full. Below you will find a map of the additional parking near our facilities:

A. Margaret T. Hance Park lot on Culver Street has access 24/7 with a short walk through the park.

B. Parking is limited in the Irish Cultural Center lot

C. The Parson’s Center for Health and Wellness on the east side of Central Avenue has additional parking for our evening and weekend visitors. This includes their uncovered lot in back of the building (access from Portland Street or N. First St.), covered parking (which has access out but not in), and an additional 40 spaces in front of the former Fire Station immediately north of them.

There is also additional street parking on Culver Street, Portland and Roosevelt with time restrictions.
