Celtic Fiddle

Private Celtic Fiddle Lessons are available by appointment Tuesday and Thursday afternoons/evenings with Instructor Amy Shafer.

Beginning Fiddling

Students that need to learn how to read music or have never touched a violin before, will excel in the class. They will learn about their instrument and music theory, and start learning how to play songs from their very first lesson.

Intermediate Fiddling

The intermediate class is perfect for students that can read music and have prior musical training; or students who are currently playing but wish to learn more specifically about Irish fiddling. Students will learn some great tunes to play along with at sessions or to perform right away. Amy will also teach confidence, playing with others in a group as well as proper performance techniques.

About the Instructor:

Amy Shafer is a classically trained musician. She started playing viola many moons ago, then fell in love with the cello. By the time she was in high school, she knew her life was going to revolve around music. Through her high school career Amy played violin, viola and cello in different orchestras and helped the director with sectionals. Amy soon learned about the Renaissance Festival, auditioned and was immediately hired. 21 years later, she can still be found performing out there with her band Far From Home. During this time, Amy was introduced to Irish fiddling and she continues to learn all that she can. Amy loves to share her knowledge about music and performing with her students. She believes that the key to success is confidence.
