McClelland Library Genealogy Resources – Irish Focused Databases

Level I: Introductory

This workshop will provide guidelines on how to efficiently utilize the resources of five Irish focused databases and archives in researching your Irish family history.

Level I: Introductory, databases include:

  • Irish Ancestors (www.JohnGrenham.com)
  • IrishGenealogy.ie (www.irishgenealogy.ie)
  • RootsIreland.ie (www.rootsireland.ie)
  • National Library of Ireland (www.nli.ie)
  • National Archives of Ireland (www.genealogy.nationalarchives.ie)

Presenter:

Miles Davenport has over 18 years of genealogy research experience. In 2010, he published his own colonial family history spanning over ten generations. He has been published in The New York Genealogical and Biographical Record and has taught beginning and advanced genealogical courses at the McClelland and Scottsdale Libraries. Miles is currently a volunteer genealogist and lecturer at the McClelland Library.

You do not need any specific materials. Make sure to bring whatever device (paper or electronic) you prefer to take notes on. Wireless Internet access is available during the class.

Where is the class held?

The Norton Room is located in the basement of the McClelland Library

How much does the course cost?

Each workshop costs $15 for Library/ICC members and $20 for the general public
