Ellen Harrington
Ellen Harrington has Stewarts and Findleys from County Down on her mother’s side, and Lynch’s from County Galway on her father’s side. And, of course, married into the Harrington Clan from Castletownbere and Eyeries, County Cork. A native Texan, Ellen graduated from the University of Houston, met her future husband Pat, and moved to Chandler, Arizona in 1981. Married 41 years, Ellen and her husband Pat have two grown children, Amanda and Kyle, and enjoy traveling – to Ireland, of course!
Ellen Harrington has served as President and Founding Member of the Chandler-Tullamore Sister Cities (CTSC) Program since 2009. She has been active in the Irish community since her daughter began Irish step-dancing in 1996 as one of the first students of Chandler’s Bracken School of Irish Dance. Being part of a Sister Cities program has always been a passion. CTSC was formed one evening over a bottle of wine with Tom Bracken, a native of Tullamore. She has traveled to Tullamore, Ireland many times since 2007, in forming the program and continuing relationships and friendships over the years. She is also the Vice-President of Chandler Sister Cities, the Treasurer for Arizona Sister Cities, a past Vice-President of Irish Network Arizona, and served as Co-Chair for the Annual Feis in the Desert for its first 8 years.
