SEPTEMBER MEETING
The Irish Foundation of Arizona will meet on Wednesday, 2 September 2015, at the Irish Cultural Center, 1106 N. Central Ave., Phoenix, AZ.  We have moved our Board meeting to 6:30 p.m.  An episode of "New Tricks.” will begin at 7:00 p.m.  We hope to see you there

Welsh League of Arizona is an inclusive group.  If you are interested in the culture of Wales and enjoy a good time relaxing and mingling with lively people you are welcome.  You do not have to be of Welsh ancestry or speak Welsh – but you might be surprised at how many are learning in Arizona.

If you are not yet a member we would welcome you to join our active group.  Annual dues are $15 for an individual and $25 for a family.  You can pay on our web site through PayPal, send a check to the address above or bring it to a meeting.

CHANDLER TULLAMORE DESERT FARE COOKBOOK ON SALE



We are pleased to announce the release of our "Desert Fare Cookbook" - a wonderful gift suggestion for family and friends - and one for yourself  Students from Seton Catholic Preparatory High School in Chandler and Sacred Heart School in Tullamore, Ireland have created a cross-cultural cookbook as part of a Sister Cities relationship between Chandler, AZ and Tullamore, Co. Offaly, Ireland.  Make popular Irish dishes from recipes straight from the Emerald Isle along with Southwestern flavored family favorites from Chandler!  Chandler's rich history is reflected in the culinary contributions and stories from our residents, both present and past.  Tullamore students photographed their authentic dishes and supplied a history of Tullamore.  Over 100 recipes have been published - definitely a cookbook of diverse culinary delights!

CONTRA DANCE MOVES TO FOURTH FRIDAY OF THE MONTH

Phoenix Friends of Old Time Music are now called Phoenix Traditional Music and Dance and they host the fourth Friday,  7:30 - 10:00 pm Contra dance at the Center.  All figures will be taught during the evening; no formal workshop. Non-dancing children must be attended by their parents at all times. Snacks are potluck provided by the participants; water fountain available.  Please bring your soft soled non scuffing dance shoes!  For more information join them on the web at http://www.phxtmd.org/

WELCOME TO PHOENIX INTERNATIONAL FOLK DANCERS

The purpose of PIFD is to promote folk dancing within the community and to welcome new folks who would like to learn folk dancing.
All ages and dance levels are welcome. No partners are needed. Circle, line, couple and solo dances include dances from Greece, Bulgaria, Turkey, Romania, Macedonia, Armenia, Israel, Serbia, Croatia, Hungary, Russia, United States and more.
Tuesday Night Folk Dancing at Irish Cultural Center at 7:30 PM - 10:30 PM
Instruction is provided by local and visiting teachers. Dances are open to the public. A $3 or  $5  donation per person is requested to help cover expenses. Come dance with us at 7:30 PM when easy and intermediate dances will be taught. At 8:15 enjoy and join in a program of international folk dances. From 9:00 to 10:30 PM, request your favorite dances!
