CHESS AND CHECKERS FOR CHAMPION FUND RAISER

Date: Saturday August 14th   Time: 5:00-9:00pm
The Celtic Dance Academy is raising money to send our Champions to the 2010 Western US Region Oireachtas in Sacramento, California. There will be games (chess, checkers, bingo), fun for the kids, food, music, dancers,
raffles and prizes.
Admission is $5 per Adult/ $2 per Child 12 & Under

IRISH FOUNDATION OF AZ NEWS

SEPTEMBER MEETING

The Irish Foundation of Arizona will meet on Wednesday, 1 September 2010, at the Center 7:00 P.M.  There will be a short business meeting, followed by a fun-filled episode of Ballykissangel (an Irish television program filmed in Avoca, in the Wicklow area).

CONTRA DANCE AT THE IRISH CULTURAL CENTER

CONTRA DANCE AT THE IRISH CULTURAL CENTER


Phoenix Friends of Old Time Music are now called Phoenix Traditional Music and Dance and they host the fourth Wednesday, 7:30 - 10:00 pm Contra dance at the Center.

All figures will be taught during the evening; no formal workshop. Non-dancing children must be attended by their parents at all times. Snacks are potluck provided by the participants; water fountain available.  Dates for the dances are:  September 22, and October 27.  Special events November 26, Burn The Calories dance and December 31, New Year's Eve Dance.  Special Fifth Friday dance on April 30 and October 29.  For more information join them on the web at http://www.PHXtmd.org.

BRACKEN SCHOOL OF IRISH DANCE NEWS

The Bracken School of Irish Dance will be hosting an open house on Saturday, August 28, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Visitors will be able to observe classes; instructors and championship dancers will be available to answer questions. Refreshments will be served.

SEPTEMBER CONCERT IN CHANDLER

Chandler part of 9th annual September Concert with global venues
The skies will come alive with music in Chandler at 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11 as the community takes part in the free annual September Concert, organized by the Chandler Irish Cultural Council (CICC), along with more than 200 other concerts around the world.
It’s the ninth annual global days of music for peace, when professional and amateur musicians will perform classical music, jazz, rock & roll. This is Chandler’s first September Concert, and it is free to the public.  Entertainers will include the Vocal Jazz Ensemble from Chandler-Gilbert Community College, The Strand, a traditional Irish band, Folklorico dancers, Irish step dancers from the Bracken School of Irish Dance, Native American dancers, a local progressive rock band, a story teller, and others.

CELTIC HARVEST FESTIVAL SEDONA CELEBRATING CELTIC ARTS IN EDUCATION September 25, 2010
Sedona, AZ- The Celtic Harvest Festival Sedona announced this week that Celtic Arts in Education will be the focus and benefit of the Festival this year and going forward into the future. This year’s Celtic Harvest Festival Sedona will be held September 25, 2010 at the Tequa Festival Marketplace on SR 179 AZ’s First All American Rd. The Festival will feature storytellers, dancers, pipers and musicians from all over the country. Northumbrian Master Piper, musician and teacher Dick Hensold www.dickhensold.com   internationally known as a “small pipe” Master, will headline the Festival performing traditional pieces and many favorites from his recordings.
