THE CENTER WISHES TO SEND CONDOLENCES

The Irish Cultural Center wishes to extend condolences to Bill and Sada O’Brien on the passing of Bill’s sister Jane O’Brien Dart, of Los Angeles who was a wonderful supporter of the Irish Cultural Center.  Also to Ellen Harrington who is very active in the Irish community in the East Valley and was instrumental in bringing about the Chandler Tullamore Sister City connection, on the passing of her father Greg Turner last week.

THE IRISH FOUNDATION CELEBRATES NEW OFFICERS WITH COVERED DISH SPRING PICNIC

The Irish Foundation begins the new year with the spring picnic and installation of new officers on Sunday, April 26,  1PM - 5PM.

Stop by and welcome the new officers, Anna O'Hara, Michael O'Hara, Michael Carney and Linda Erickson.  The Foundation will provide hot dogs and hamburgers.  Members will provide a side dish to share.  Admission is
$5 for adults.  Kids are free.

EASTER RISING REMEMBRANCE

On Easter Sunday, April 12, 2009, the Irish Cultural Center will be presenting our annual Easter Rising Remembrance at 1:00 pm. This multi media presentation will be narrated by Jim Daugherty with musical accompaniment by Jane Hilton and Shay Veno. Unlike previous years, this year there will NOT be a Catholic Mass spoken in Irish. Plan to join the community for this historical and now traditional presentation. Irish tea and soda bread will be available at the break. Volunteers are still needed, please contact Jim Daugherty at djr9@msn.com or call the Center at (602) 258-0109.

The Hermosillo and Ramat-Gan Sister Cities committes welcomes You to Join Us for a BENEFIT PERFORMANCE of "Parted Waters," an original work by Robert Benjamin ~ Produced by the Arizona Jewish Theater Company.  The play tells the compelling story of the Crypto-Jews of the Southwest, a remarkable convergence of Hispanic and Jewish roots.

THIS WEEKEND! ST. PATRICK'S DAY PARADE AND FAIRE CELEBRATES 26 YEARS

26th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Irish Faire will be held Saturday, March 14, 2009. Parade 3rd Street from Virginia south to Margaret T. Hance Park Starts at 10 am. The Faire starts immediately after at Hance Park West side of Central at the Irish Cultural Center. Admission $10.00 adults 12 & older $1.00 Kids 6-12 and under 6 FREE.

TERM 2 ACADEMY OF CELTIC STUDIES BEGINS IN APRIL

The Academy of Celtic Studies begins its second term of 2009 on April 6th.  The cost for music and language classes is $90.00 for the 9 week term. Private lessons are available in 30 or 60 minute time slots. The cost for private lessons is $15.00 per 30 minute class and $30.00 per 60 minute class. WorldFEST 2009

Celebrate the world we live in at the 4th annual Phoenix Sister Cities WorldFEST, presented by Pro's Ranch Markets and in collaboration with Alliance Beverage Distributing Company. WorldFEST is a celebration of culture, the arts and food from Phoenix’s sister cities and more. Visitors can see, hear, smell, taste, touch and actively participate in this hands-on, multicultural festival with FREE ADMISSION.  WorldFest is held at Margaret T. Hance Park (Deck Park), 1125 N. Central, South of Burton Barr Library, 3rd St.and Moreland, on the tunnel.  Use I-10, exit 7th Street.
